I’ve got mail - from Rachel Sarah!

When I started dating again after becoming a single mother it took me a while to realize that dating would never be the same. I had thought, naively, that it would be…

I knew there would be the obvious differences, like making time for a date and gaining the courage to tell a guy I had a child - but I wasn’t prepared for the emotions I would feel. And the hardest part of all, trying to juggle those “dating” ups and downs without hurting Benjamin in the process. After a particularly bad dating experience, I jumped online - searching for someone - for another single mom who could give me some advice. And that’s where I found Rachel Sarah, author of Single Mom Seeking. I read her blog and then immediately ordered the book.

I couldn’t put it down. The entire time I was nodding my head, crying or laughing. I wasn’t alone! All of these crazy emotions weren’t just mine - they were normal and just part of the process.

I leant my copy of Single Mom Seeking to a friend and haven’t seen it since … Rachel knew this and when I got back from my little weekend excursion guess what I found in my mailbox? A new copy! And a little note from Rachel apologizing from the beat up envelope - on the envelope, “Hi Alaina! Sorry for the super messy, triple recycled envelope…quick work errand! You understand? Rachel”

So funny. And this is exactly why I love Rachel so much. You understand? If not, please, for the love of single moms, buy her book. If you have read Single Mom Seeking - what did you think? If you could write a dating book for single moms what would your advice be?

  1. This is so funny because I lent my copy to a friend months ago and haven’t seen it since!!

  2. Ya know..I have it sitting on my headboard..halfway read. And well..it isnt that I was bored with it..I just havent had a minute to even read it. I L O V E it so far. Hopefully when Im off for 2 weeks I can finish it and read a few other books I want to read. If it wasnt for Sunrise..I could finish her book without putting it down..it is so warm, funny, and all around wonderful. But usually when I get interested in something..Sunrise becomes more and more interested in me. :) Good Job Rachel! :)

  3. I LOVED it!! I read it in less than a day…I couldn’t put it down. I also lent it out to another single mother, but she did return it. Yes, everyone - go out and buy this book!!!

  4. I’m a single dad, and I totally related to it. Dating for single parents is crazy and complicated!

  5. I just got it yesterday and can’t put it down! It just feels so honestly good to read something I can relate to so well. It has been hard to give up my dream of having a mama/dada/baby family….but as it leaves- the new dreams I’m envisioning are so much more colorful, fun, and real. Single parents really are such special people.
